Artwork by Stephen D. West Artist Information BACKGROUND: For more than thirty years Stephen had been teaching, volunteering, and articulating his love for art. This would include teaching Graphic Design Digital PrePress (a nationally recognized program) at the Southern Regional Occupational Center that assists students to continue their art education or develop their own businesses in the art world, and/or apply their art skills to various other entities throughout the Southland. Within the community, he has also fulfilled this desire to promote art by accepting to develop their artistic expression. He served as a board member of the Torrance Art Council and Torrance Fine Arts Commission for three years. Today, Stephen is involved in painting the wildlife and landscapes of California and the western states. This is a special time in his life to paint, travel and see his dreams become a reality. His work has been shown in over one hundred shows and he has been a featured artist in twenty solos shows. His paintings have been used to further the efforts and goals of conservation groups such as Madrona Marsh, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and the Eastern Sierra Mountain Foundation, to name a few. Moneys from his artwork have helped make some of his goals a reality, making more people aware of the wildlife and environment around them. Stephen will continue to make an effort in bringing his work and goals into national awareness as he enters the major wildlife shows nationwide. Professional Affiliations
